Footwear Message from SSMBA

Metal Cleats Not Allowed

Urgent!  All centres are to inform their coach’s, players, UIC’s, umpires that “METAL CLEATS” are NOT ALLOWED !!  All players are to be checked prior to going on the feild that they are not wearing them.  Coach’s and umpires are allowed to wear metal cleats.

If a player is caught wearing them, they will be ejected as well as the coach as per page 19-8  in the SSMBA rule book. We have had a few issues with this.  Also if a coach  brings a rule book on to the feild for any reason, they are to be ejected as well.

Please lets end the season on a positive note.

David Arbon, 1st VP-SSMBA

Blue Jays Clinic – Ivy – Saturday July 16, 9am

Posted 20 June 2011

For many years Ivy Baseball Association have been hosting a Blue Jays clinic. Qualified Toronto Blue Jays instructors will focus on teaching young players of all skill levels the basic skill fundamentals of the game in a fun, structured, and non-competitive atmosphere. The clinic will be four hours in length with the players being grouped by age. During the clinic each group will rotate stations that will deal with skills such as: hitting, receiving, throwing, fielding, pitching and base running. Coaches are also invited to come on to the field to observe and to ask our instructors questions.  To register, please CLICK HERE.

Message From SSMBA

8 June 2011

Over the past few days, SSMBA has been dealing with multiple ejection reports that are very disturbing. We as adults should be setting good examples to our kids and show them the meaning of sportsmanship, how to have fun and enjoy the game of baseball.  It is becoming apparent that this is not happening sometimes on different levels.

We have had abuse directed towards our umpires, parents drinking at the diamonds and then abusing the umps, kids being VERY disrespectful etc and we are only a couple of weeks into the season.

At our coach’s meeting I expressed to everyone this stuff simply won’t be tolerated by SSMBA.  We MUST give the kids a safe, fun and enjoyable place. Not an out of control zoo. I mean come on, drinking to the point of not being able to control your emotions at a kids game?   Please consider this your official notice. Any ejections from here out will be dealt with to the full extent of the SSMBA disciplinary committee. You must keep your parents, players etc under control. It would be a shame to miss many games, have forfeits and so on because of a simple lack of good judgement.

Lets go and enjoy the summer weather, the game of baseball, and our kids.
